ICEVI West Asia

ICEVI West Asia congratulates Ms. Gerel Dondovdorj, President of the Mongolia National Federation of the Blind which is ICEVI’s  prestigious Higher Education Project Partner  has been elected as a member of the UNCRPD Committee for the period 2021-2024. It is a great honour for ICEVI that one of our project partners is on the United Nation’s Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Congratulations Ms. Dondovdorj and ICEVI looks forward to many breakthroughs in the policy front globally that would pave ways for the empowerment of persons with disabilities in general and persons with visual impairment in particular. She is among five women and three men elected by States Parties for the period 2021-2024.

Ms Gerel Dondovdorj is a lawyer and she did her master on international human rights at the University of Notre Dame in the USA. She has been working in disability field since 2006. She is a member of the National Disability policy counsel, also, serving as a member of the Disability Policy Counsel at the Ministries of Education, Labor and social protection as well as justice as well as a member of the Mongolian Bar association. She was also part in the drafting process of the law on the rights of persons with disabilities in the Mongolian Parliament, as well as of the drafting process of other laws such as law on social welfare, labor and education etc. ICEVI appreciate her contribution towards promotion of human rights for persons with visual impairment and wishes her great success in all her endeavours.
