Bhushan Punani Conferred National Leadership Award

Dr. Bhushan Punani, Chairperson, ICEVI West Asia has been selected by an eminent panel comprising of highly respected who’s who of the corporate, academic, finance and social sectors of our country. He has been selected as the Leader in the category of “Community Service & Social Upliftment”. This coveted award is given annually in the category of Business, Science & Technology and Community Service and previous recipients include luminaries like Mr. Ratan Tata, Dr. Narayan Murthy of Infosys, Sunil Bharati Mittal, Anand Mahindra to name a few. He has been chosen this year from 388 nominations for final selection of 6 winners by the Jury.

The award was conferred on  Dr. Punani by the worthy hands of Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind   in a glittering function in New Delhi on 9th December, 2019.  All members of BPA family are truly proud of this great achievement! The citation of the award reads, “This Award is presented in recognition of outstanding dedication and sincerity in the promotion of social welfare in the field of Community Services and Social Upliftment. Bhushan Punani is one such example of a highly motivated and devout social worker who gave up lucrative career with the completion of his management degree from IIM Ahmedabad in 1979 and joined Blind People’s Association. He is amongst the first few professionals managers who gave up their entire professional career to the cause of serving differently abled” Hon’ble President speaking on the occasion elaborated that the thoughts of Mahatama Gandhi on leadership are very relevant even today. He desired that during the year of celebration of 150 birth year of Father of the Nation, his thoughts on leadership must be followed by today’s youth. Responding this award in a function at BPA, Bhushan Punani explained that this Award is recognition of transparency, accountability and outstanding governance at BPA. This is the team spirit, dedication, devotion and hard work of each and every one including trustees, staff, volunteers, well-wishers and donors of BPA that it has emerged the most leading disability development organisation in India. Thus this Award is dedicated to each and every one who have supported BPA enabled it to emerge as the most vibrant organization in the country.
