ICEVI West Asia Speaks during IDDC Climate Change Panel
ICEVI West Asia Speaks during IDDC Climate Change Panel
International Disability Development Consortium (IDDC) organized a Panel Discussion on 19th May, 2021 on Climate Change as a part of its General Assembly. Ms. Mary Keogh and Ms. Mette Müller Kristensen, Conveners of this Panel described this panel discussion as, “How can we be more proactive in the fight against climate change and ensure persons with disabilities are not left behind? More and more attention is focused by governments, donors and social justice movements on the impact of climate change on all the world’s people. Persons with disabilities make up 15% of the world’s population, yet visibility of disability inclusion in climate negotiations, policy and programmes is minimal. IDDC members in partnership with organisations of persons with disabilities can change this by becoming involved. If you want to learn more about how to be involved, come join our session on May 19th @ 12 CET. The session will include keynote speakers – Ms. Elham Youssefian, IDA’s Inclusive Humanitarian Action and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Advisor and Dr Yolanda Munoz, a co-investigator with the Disability-Inclusive Climate Action Research Program. There will also be an interactive panel discussion which will include IDDC members who are engaged in climate research and action and activists from environmental movement”
