Bhushan Punani Receives National Award on Accessible Voting

The Blind People’s Association, headed by Bhushan Punani, Executive Secretary and Nandini Rawal, Executive Director, both officials of the ICEVI has been conferred National Award. This Award was conferred by H E President of India, Mr Ram Kovind in a glittering function organized at Maneskshaw Centre, New Delhi on 25th January, 2020. While speaking on the occasion, HE President appreciated efforts of the Election Commission of India for making the election  process, election material and voting booths accessible for each every person including the persons with disabilities. The BPA produced ballet papers, voter cards, voting material and voting slips in Braille and produced ballet paper in audio format for the persons with visual impairment. It also imparted training in voting officials for making the voting process inclusive and accessible. ICEVI West Asia also played an important in the process of making the voting process accessible in India
